To help celebrate the City of Vancouver’s 125th anniversary and to support the City’s goal of becoming the greenest in the world, Vancouver Foundation launched the Generation Green Awards (GGA) program in January 2011.
This special initiative provides up to $12,500 in cash awards for environmental projects created by young people aged six to 24.
In all, 19 projects from 110 submissions were chosen by an independent panel of youth and environmental experts. All projects are required to be completed by October 2011. All projects will be showcased at the Vancouver Foundation’s Community Celebration on October 27, 2011.
Here’s some info about Vancouver Foundation –- the people running the Generation Green Awards.
Vancouver Foundation is a community foundation – the biggest in Canada. Each year we give money to hundreds of projects that are working to make our community better for everyone. We fund great projects in arts and culture, education, animals, family issues, homelessness, disabilities, health, and the environment.
This year we are doing something special for the environment. To help celebrate the City of Vancouver’s 125th anniversary, and to help Vancouver achieve its goal of becoming the greenest city in the world, we have created the Generation Green Awards. By encouraging young people like you to take action and do things to green their neighbourhoods, we know we can help Vancouver become the greenest city.
So now it’s time for you to let your imagination go green.
